Terms of Use
Last updated: 30 January 2026
1. Service Description
provable.info ("the Service") is a document integrity verification platform provided by Noscere Ltd ("we", "us"). The Service creates cryptographic proofs of document existence by anchoring document hashes to the blockchain, enabling independent verification that a document existed in a specific state at a specific time.
2. Acceptance
By installing the provable.info extension or using the verification portal, you agree to these terms. If you are using provable.info on behalf of an organisation, you represent that you have authority to bind that organisation to these terms.
3. How It Works
- Depending on the workflow, documents may be hashed locally (e.g. extension/CLI/SDK) or uploaded for server-side hashing (e.g. verification portal file upload).
- Hashes may be batched into Merkle trees and anchored to the blockchain.
- Each seal produces verifiable metadata including a blockchain transaction ID.
- Verification compares a document's current hash (or Merkle root) against sealed on-chain records.
4. Your Responsibilities
- Keep your API key confidential. You are responsible for all activity under your key.
- Do not use the Service for illegal purposes or to seal illegal content.
- Ensure you have authority to seal documents in your organisation's SharePoint.
- Report any suspected API key compromise immediately.
5. Service Availability
We aim for high availability but do not guarantee uninterrupted service. The blockchain operates independently of provable.info — blockchain confirmations depend on network conditions. Seals are queued and batched; there may be a delay between sealing a document and its blockchain confirmation.
6. Blockchain Permanence
Once a hash is anchored to the blockchain, it cannot be modified or deleted. This is a fundamental feature of blockchain technology and a core part of the Service. By sealing a document, you acknowledge that the seal record will be permanent.
7. Limitations
- provable.info proves document existence and integrity, not document authenticity or authorship.
- A verified seal confirms the document has not been modified since sealing — it does not validate the content itself.
- provable.info is not a substitute for legal notarisation, though it may complement it.
8. Intellectual Property
The provable.info software, branding, and documentation are owned by Noscere Ltd. Your documents and data remain your property. We claim no ownership over documents you seal.
9. Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Noscere Ltd shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from the use of provable.info. Our total liability shall not exceed the fees paid by you in the 12 months preceding the claim.
10. Termination
Either party may terminate the agreement at any time. Upon termination, your API key will be deactivated. Existing blockchain anchors remain permanent and verifiable indefinitely.
11. Changes to Terms
We may update these terms from time to time. Material changes will be communicated via the admin email on file. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance.
12. Governing Law
These terms are governed by the laws of Scotland. Any disputes shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the Scottish courts.
